The “He Gets Us” campaign has people talking. During Super Bowl LVIII, the He Gets Us campaign aired two commercials, together costing $20 million. The mission of “He Gets Us” is to help everyone “rediscover the love story of Jesus.” But the truth is, rather than helping people “rediscover” the love of Jesus, the “He Gets Us” campaign redefines the love of Jesus. About the ads The first commercial showed a montage of people from…

Progressives, entrenched in postmodern concepts of “truth,” read into the Bible their own experiences and force the Bible to adopt their worldview. That’s the way postmodern progressives interpret the Bible. And that’s why they almost always get it wrong. Woodman’s progressive Jesus Take, for instance, Simon Woodman. In a 2022 conference on “Queer Theology,” Woodman, a “pastor” of Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, claimed that “Jesus transgenders himself on a number of occasions.” He attempted to…

Hosts and guests on ABC’s The View frequently promote left-leaning ideologies and pontificate against conservative positions. That’s expected. It’s their brand. But even so, on April 18 actress Patti Lupone, a guest on the show, wandered beyond reality even more than most. The group was busy bashing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his policies when Lupone revealed her staggering ignorance about both America and Christianity. Is the Christian Right like the Taliban? The group discussed…

The movie Jesus Revolution opened in theaters in February and took the #3 spot nationally, earning over $15 million the first weekend. By mid-March, it had surpassed $40 million in gross revenue, an eye-catching sum for Hollywood productions. And after eight weeks in theaters, the film continues to thrive as it shifts to DVD and streaming platforms. That’s good news, not only for Christians, but for our country as well. What’s it about? Jesus…

The Respect for Marriage Act (RMA) passed both the US Senate and the House. Soon, no doubt, the President will sign it into law. What is the RMA? The RMA codifies the Supreme Court’s 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges and, in short, requires same-sex marriages to be legally recognized in every state. The RMA also “repeals and replaces provisions that define, for purposes of federal law, marriage as between a man and a woman.”…

In early September California Gov. Gavin Newsom launched a multi-state billboard campaign to promote abortion on demand using the words of Jesus from Mark 12:31, “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.” Newsom is targeting states with laws that restrict elective abortion services, such as Texas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi. The billboards urge women in those states to come to California to receive an abortion. And notice his strategy: Quote…

Recent research from LifeWay Christian Resources reveals that 91% of Americans celebrate Christmas. And nearly all of those (72%) agree that the holiday recognizes a real, historical event, the birth of Jesus Christ at Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Americans can tell the story with confidence. Only about 22% nod to that. But even so, most Americans embrace the facts of history, and that it happened the way…

In May, The Late Show host Stephen Colbert interviewed Ringo Starr as the former Beatle approached his 81st birthday. In the segment called “The Colbert Questionert,” he asked Starr a series of mundane and trivial questions designed to evoke deep and thoughtful answers. Of course, the whole thing was for comedic effect, so the questions were things like “Best sandwich?,” What is the scariest animal?,” “Most used app on your phone?,” and “What number am…

Five years ago, for most of us, Critical Race Theory (CRT) was barely a blip on our radar. But now it dominates our cultural conversation, pushed to the forefront by activists who claim to advocate racial justice, diversity, and economic equality. Now the tentacles of CRT are stretching into public education. CRT advocates are adding it to curricula for lower grades, but in New York, Nevada, Virginia and other school systems, parents are pushing back,…

What happens when we die? It’s the perennial human question. It haunts and humbles, fascinates and frightens. Should the prospect of death strike fear, elicit yawns, or cause us to rejoice? Our interest in death has also generated a fascination with “Near Death Experiences” (NDEs) or reports of people who die and then “return,” usually within a few minutes. Christians are no exception, lured by books in the Christian market that fuel this fascination and…
